Glass Faces
Hey queen,
This is a reminder that what we see online is not real. No one is perfect, and it’s okay to delete the apps and protect yourself from curated images that come at your self esteem with a knife. Comparison is a natural human reaction and the best cure is creativity. When you struggle here, aim to create more than you consume.
Enjoy – Kari
Glass Faces
The it girls have shiny glass face
Inside modern homes with vintage vases
Everyone just wants to be like the other
We race and run until we collapse, our self esteem smothered
I keep a picture frame of perfect lives in my back pocket
It’s like a black hole, I’m getting sucked into Narnia and I can’t find a key to unlock it
I can’t escape because there is no escape
This is the world we reside in
I’m roped to comparison and there’s no one left to untie it
I’m tired… no I’m empty
Empty from trading hours of my life for needles in my face
And nails that Pinterest deems trendy
I know I don’t have to but it’s not true
That people like real
People like glass faces, shiny features
They like a facade of the perfection that they’re dying to feel
We all look to one another but no one actually has it
We’re all just shattered glass piecing ourselves together
Bit by bit
